How is blogging going for you?
If you’re like 97% of bloggers, chances are your blog is not where you want it to be. Maybe you are not sharing enough content or the right content. Or you have not found a way to make money with your blog yet.
If that’s you, then here are some quick tips to help:
1. Define Your Blogging Objective
Get clear on why you are blogging or vlogging (video blogs). Making noise without an objective or clear message won’t get you far. Are you simply using your blog to share your story or are you using it for marketing and sales purposes to make more money online?
If you want to make money by blogging, you need to view your blog as a marketing tool. Every blog post, video, image, headline and advertisements need to contribute to your sales message. Your blog needs to articulate specific problems in your area of expertise and reveal solutions that can solve those problems.
2. Use Images for Blogging
Your blogging efforts will pay off more if you use images to support your content. Images can be photos, diagrams or charts that help the readers grasp your message faster.
3. Break Up Your Content
Make it easier to read your blogs by breaking up your content with big headlines, sub-headlines and short paragraphs. Use short sentences in a conversational tone. Your blog is not a novel or educational textbook.
4. Blogging for Engagement
Blogs were started to share content in an engaging way. Readers have an option to write comments and give feedback. If you’re using comments on your blogging platform, then make sure to monitor and replay to comments. It shows you’re paying attention and you care, which will get more people to comment. Plus, it’s the right thing to do.
To avoid spam comments and know who is commenting on your blog, you might want to use the Facebook comment feature instead. Using your native commenting feature on your blog will invite spammers to make negative comments and post backlinks to their sites and offers.
Comment on other people’s blogs that are in your niche. This can drive traffic back to your blog. But keep it clean. Your comments need to provide value and not spam with sales and affiliate links.
Every time you comment on someone else’s blog, ask yourself, “How would I want others to comment on my blog?”
5. Blogging Call to Action
Use a P.S. as a call to action. Sometimes when you sell within a post, it annoys people. But no one is upset at a P.S. at the end that says, “Hey, go check out my related product here.” In fact, most people appreciate that. They are reading the blog to find a solution to a specific problem. Your call to action needs to solve that problem.
6. Blogging Links
Link to relevant posts. You can do this within your post or at the end. This is a great technique for keeping people on your site longer.
7. Sharing is Caring
Share your blog content. Let your list know you just put up a post. Announce any new content in your online and offline newsletters, and share it on all your social media platforms.
You can share your content again in the future if it’s still relevant. Chances are many of your followers missed it the first time. But if you share your content on a regular basis, you can guarantee more views with old and new followers.
What About You?
If you’re on this site, then chances are you have an online business or in the process of building one. Blogging is a great tool to add to your marketing strategy. But unless you like to share unique and valuable content on a regular basis, then your blog might suffer like the 97% of blogs.
I use this blog as one of my sources of income. This blog focuses on the online business niche and helps the reader understand the importance of marketing and adding affiliate marketing as one of their sources of income.
As you build a high readership, you can attract other businesses who would pay you to place ads on your blog. In the meantime, you can make an income by placing ads to affiliate offers you represent.
Write back and let me know, how are you making money with your blog?
