The biggest enemy of progress and success is “comfort”.
Staying in our comfort zone is so much easier than venturing into the unknown and trying something new.
That’s why most people stick to their current job… even if they hate it.
Most people who start a business, usually do that out of passion or necessity.
If you are building an online business out of passion, then you are more likely to love it and enjoy the journey.
If you are building an online business out of necessity and because you have no other options, your path will be a bit bumpy. It will be bumpy because you might not be convinced yet that this is the path you want to follow. Doubt and conformity to the traditional job market will hold you back.
The good news and the bad news is… it is so much easier to build an online business these days.
It’s good news, because it means anyone who is determined and willing to put the time and effort, can build a successful business.
The bad news is, because it is so much easier, there is more competition. There are more people offering the same products and services.
So how do you stand out and help customers understand why they should buy from you instead of someone else?
- You can build rapport by sharing more of your life and daily activities on social media, blogs and other online platforms. People buy from people and when you are more visible, they are more likely to buy from you. That is how YouTube and Instagram celebrities make their money online.
- You can use automated marketing funnels and advertising to educate and match the right people with the right offers. That’s how digital marketers and successful online businesses make their money online.
Option 1 will require more of your time and might seem uncomfortable if you are like me and prefer to keep a private life.
Option 2 will require more skills and money to setup your marketing funnels and spend money on advertising.
If you can do both at the same time, you’ll get faster results. They will both require that you get out of your comfort zone and try something new.
Harv Eker said it best…
If you are willing to put in the time and effort and focus on marketing skills that allow you to generate more sales online… no matter what you choose to offer, your path will become easier.
That is why I like affiliate marketing and always recommend it to newbies. With affiliate marketing, you don’t have to worry about creating products or services, you don’t need any payment processing, storage facilities, deal with shipping and handling, refunds and returns or customer support. All you have to do is focus on marketing.
There are MILLIONS of products and services you can promote and THOUSANDS of companies you can represent.
Some companies pay only 2 – 5% commissions and some pay 30 – 90% commissions.
It all depends on the type of products you choose to promote and how you promote them!
The BIG question is now, are you willing to get out of your comfort zone?
